Eagle Heights Bird Of Prey Centre
Eagle Heights is situated in Eynsford, Kent, overlooking the village itself with views over the Darent Valley. We opened the centre in 1996, initially with around 30 birds. Our exciting displays and wonderful surroundings soon became popular and the centre rapidly expanded, now housing between 150 - 200 birds at any one time. We also have a newly built reptile house and now have various mammals on display, including meerkats and asian short clawed otters.
Facilities at the centre include a cafe, serving both hot and cold food. Indoor and outdoor aviaries, a large indoor lecture room, large flying arena, play area and shop. We also have educational/teaching facilities including a classroom. The centre is fully accessible to the Disabled.
For those interested in our conservational work we also have a bird hospital, including our own anesthetic machine and other medical facilities. We also breed many birds and have an extensive range of incubation and rearing facilities

Earnley Gardens
Earnley Butterflies & Gardens provide three attractions in one. Walk among tropical butterflies and exotic birds, wander around a maze of theme gardens with free competition for kids. Also Noah’s Ark animal and reptile rescue centre with 100’s of animals and reptiles from rabbits to pythons. Rejectamenta the nostalgia centre an interesting and educational trip into 20th Century Britain.
Eden Ostrich World
It is a Farm Visitor Centre based at Langwathby Hall, a 230 acre working arable beef and sheep farm near Penrith in the beautiful Eden Valley. Within three months of opening, Eden Ostrich World won Cumbria Tourist Board's prestigious Best Visitor Attraction in Cumbria Award (under 50,000 visitors). To achieve this award in so little time is a tremendous accolade and one that we are particularly proud of.
Of high educational value, the Centre boasts rare breeds of cattle, donkeys, outdoor pigs, goats, red deer, meerkats, zebras, porcupines, racoon dogs, ducks and geese. Of course, the centrepiece is the magnificent African Black Ostrich. Visitors marvel at the magic of incubation with eggs hatching on a daily basis (May to October).
Conservation of the environment is high on the agenda with dry stone-walling, hedge planting, hedge laying and tree planting being featured. Perhaps the jewel in the Crown is the river Eden walk that is available for the pleasure of visitors. So important is this stretch of river for bio-diversity that English Nature has designated it a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Edinburgh Zoo, Edinburgh, Scotland
Edinburgh Zoo is owned by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, a registered conservation and education charity, SC 004064. The Society was founded in March 1909, and the Zoo opened in July 1913. We acquired the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig near Aviemore, in 1986. Please click here for more about the History of the Zoo.
Edinburgh Zoo is one of Europe's leading centres of conservation, education and research. Our mission is 'to inspire and excite our visitors with the wonder of living animals, and so to promote the conservation of threatened species and habitats'
We work collectively with many other zoos and conservation agencies in the UK, Europe and around the world in co-ordinated Conservation programmes, to help ensure the survival of many threatened animal species. We also support various conservation projects in the wild through funding and expertise. Our extensive Education programme aims to raise awareness and understanding of the fragility of life on this planet, and our responsibility to help care for it. And we also support a range of targeted Research projects which are designed to enhance our understanding of animals' behavioural and physiological needs, with many useful consequences for conservation in the wild.
The Zoo is also one of Scotland's most successful visitor attractions, second only to Edinburgh Castle in terms of paying visitors, with over 600,000 a year. Open every day of the year including Christmas Day, we have four stars from the VisitScotland quality assurance scheme, and we work hard to offer our visitors a truly great day out. Please see our section on visitor information for details of all our visitor facilities.
Set in 82 acres of sloping parkland, the Zoo is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. Apart from getting close to over 1,000 rare and beautiful animals, there are so many different ways to have fun! You can enjoy a full range of eating experiences, several play areas, a fantastic gift shop, free hilltop safari rides and a busy programme of events and activities - ranging from keeper talks through to hands-on animal encounters.
